hello piklu!

My dear piklu,

heard you have done that again. Don't do it, dear. I am worried about you. Always do things that you always wanted to do, but if it hurts someone, please avoid it. You should not have beaten the poor dog with that stick of yours. Imagine somebody doing that to you. You know what? The dog doesn't know how to cry like a human, otherwise you wuld have understand how much your little pleasure had hurt him. You know what? That dog was limping for three days, i heard. Piklu, how can you do that to a creature who never hurt you? How can you do that to a creature who was sleeping and was nott aware that you would be doing such a nasty thing to him? Piklu, a brave man always gives his opponent chance to defend himself and fight back. What you have done is what cowards do. Are you a coward piklu? I never expected this from a brave boy like you!
i won't bore you. As promised when last i met you, i will tell you what i see around me and will find out if there is anything interesting in it. But your act has disappointed me so much that i won't tell you the whole story in this mail. I will tell you a new story whenever i write to you, usually every week, if i find that you have been kind to everybody around you.
As you know, i am in mumbai. It is a funny place. People run here all the time, without knowing why they are running. It's bit like when you run with your friends out of joy seeing the sky turning blue-black or red. People here run not out of joy, but they are forced to. The person in front is running and the person behind you is also running. If you don't run, you will be pusshed down and people will run over you. That will be very painful, isn't it? Imagine baba running over you. What will happen to you? Only here many more babas will run over you. Tintin you will become a colgate paste!
God only knows where you will be when you grow up. I never thought i would be in mumbai. I never wanted to come to a place like this. Kids like you always think that when you grow up, the world will be nice and beautiful. You will be free and will be of your own, that's what you think now. You think there will be noone to tell you what you should do and what you should not do. To some extent, your thinking is right. But as you grow up, you will realise, things are not that easy. When you grow up, you end up doing things that you don't like at all, even if nobody stops you from doing things you want to do. Yes, it is complicated and i don't expect you to understand everything of it. In fact, you don't need to understand anything of it now. You will get to know when you grow up.
Never stop dreaming. Well, you will say you don't choose to dream but they come automatically when you sleep, but there is another kind of dream i am talking here. Dreams are also something like what want to do, wish to do when you grow up. Something like you want to be the greatest kite-flier of all time, or you want to become a fighter pilot flying the plane that you designed or made yourself, that kind of wishes are also called dreams. So your long-term wishes are called dreams too! You see them even when you are awake and alone. But like all dreams they also come to you suddenly and tell you to fulfil them.
Having dreams is the greatest thing a man can have. All kids of your age have dreams. But when they grow up, many forget their dreams, many had to give up their dreams and many simply beacame incapable of carrying a dream with them. Dreams never come to them and they don't want any dream to come to them.
The main reason for that is a city like this where you have to run every moment. When you grow up and have to come to city like this, you may have to give up some dreams. So dream as many as you want to. Wish as much as you can think of. When your dreams leave you, or you have to shed them, it hurts much more than getting beaten up with a big stick when you are sleeping. It is a trerrible feeling piklu, it hurts me everyday.
This is my first letter to you, from the next one, i will make it more interesting. Promise, i will never give you sermons as your parents do now. I know you don't like to be told what you are supposed to do. This is just a test mail to find out how the mail delivery system works. If you get this letter, please do let me know and i can continue writing one letter a week to you. I think you will like them. If not, let me know and i will stop it.
Till then, don't be a good boy, but be kind to people and creatures who deserve your kindness.
And yes, study well, eat well, play well and sleep well. That's what i used to do when i was of your age.
Your friend,
g
P.S. Don't fight with your sister.
